The new international terminal opens today at the Atlanta airport. Here is our story from March 28 on how the terminal will affect travelers from Middle Georgia.

More than 5,000 people travel from Central Georgia to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in
...more Atlanta each month.

Passengers traveling on nonstop international flights from Atlanta will check in at the international terminal. Passengers traveling abroad via another U.S. city will check in at the domestic terminal.

The most important thing that international travelers from Macon need to know is to look for Exit 239 off I-75. That's different from the exit travelers would normally take for domestic travel.

On Monday night, Macon Mayor Robert Reichert told City Council members that he thought the Fire and Police Pension Board could soon sue the city.

But before a full council meeting Tuesday, former Macon-Bibb Fire Chief Jimmy Hartley gave council his side.

"I'm not going to get
...more on my soapbox tonight, and I'm not going to rail on anybody. I just wanted to touch up on a few things that were previously said," Chief Hartley said before council.

He says he came to the meeting in response to Macon Mayor Robert Reichert's comments a day earlier.

"There is no perfect storm brewing," Hartley reassured.

Mayor Reichert described the issues between the Fire and Police Pension Board and the city as a "perfect storm," saying it could be a matter of time before the board sues the city.

But Hartley told 13WMAZ's Amy Aubert they have no current plans to do that.

He says the board is working to keep a lawsuit out of the

Forsyth's Grits Cafe will rise again soon, a co-owner says.

This week, work crews are demolishing the burned-out restaurant so owners Wayne and Terri Wetendorf can rebuild on the site.

Today, Wetendorf said he's not sure when they'll be able to reopen.

He said
...more it's taken longer than he expected to start demolishing and rebuilding.

But he said the popular downtown restaurant will come back "bigger and better."

The couple's upscale Southern Cafe was destroyed by a March fire that also damaged some nearby businesses.

They've run Grits in a 125-year-old building since 1999.

The fire put about 35 employees out of work.
