PERRY, GA.— Hot Chelle Rae and Allstar Weekend are set to perform at the Georgia National Fair, a Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter news release says.

That's on October 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds.

The news release also says, "the Fair staff is finalizing one additional concert."

Tickets go on sale August 25 online. They're $25.

Mrs. Grace Leverett Davis, age 88, of 7475 Highway 15 North in Warthen died Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday May 17 in the Warthen United Methodist Church in Warthen, with burial in the Warthen

Mrs. Davis was a native of Terrell County, Georgia, the daughter of the late John Henry Leverett and the late Lottie Lou Smith Leverett. She was the wife of the late Gordon Lamar Davis and was preceded in death by a brother Earl Leverett. Mrs. Davis attended Georgia Southwestern College and the Georgia State College for Women. She was a school teacher in Tennille and Warthen and a homemaker. Mrs. Davis also served as a substitute teacher for Brentwood School. She was an active member of the Warthen United Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for over twenty years.

A Sandersville physician, author and historian wrote a non-fiction book and will speak to the Warren County Historical Society's Annual Banquet about the cotton economy crash in the 1920s.

Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Ocmulgee Drug Task Force teamed up to seize almost a pound of marijuana Friday.

That's according to a Washington County Sheriff's Office news release.

The Washington County Sheriff's office is working closely with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to stop smuggling inside the state prison in Davisboro.  Washington County Sheriff Thomas H. Smith says their most recent cases involved $40,000 in cell phones and $100,000 in tobacco

According to a news release from the sheriff's office, the items were found in a wooded area near the prison  Investigators suspect the items were left there for inmates on work detail to pick up and then distribute inside the prison.

Investigators say the items are possibly related to the arrests of 4 people Friday. Davisboro Police Chief Chris Tanner and Washington County investigator Corey King arrested John Young, 51, Mary Elizabeth Young, 45, Jacob Smith, 20, and Jose Gutierrez, 17, Friday in a wooded area outside the prison.   All 4 are charged with trading with inmates without consent, felony possession of prohibited items, and criminal trespass.
