A bill is making its way through the Georgia House of Representatives that would require all public schools to have at least two personnel trained in diabetes care.

State House Bill 879 was drafted in response to rising percentages of students with Type 2 diabetes.  The Center for...more Disease Control in Atlanta says around 13 thousand people under 20 are diagnosed nationwide each year.

Under the bill, non-medical staff members would receive basic skills training to help them recognize diabetic emergencies and help administer medications and insulin to students.

On Eyewitness News Mornin' Wednesday, Stephanie Susskind and Randall Savage shared comments from Democratic State Representative James Beverly of Macon on why he supports the legislation. 

Julie Deese, a Diabetes specialist with the Medical Center of Central Georgia's Diabetes HealthWays also talked with us about the special needs a student on insulin faces in the school environment.

East Dublin's Redneck Games 2012 has been set for Saturday, May 26.
That's a change from last year's July event. Event coordinator Kelvin Cauley says the change in dates should help with the heat.
The event schedule is expected to be released in March, Cauley says.
Admission is $5...more per person, and all proceeds go to charity. Gates open at 10 a.m. and events start at noon.

The Dublin Police Department is investigating an accident that may have killed a man early Saturday morning.

That's according to Dublin Chief of Police Wayne Cain.

Cain says the one-car accident happened around 2 a.m. Saturday morning on East Madison Street in...more Dublin.

When police arrived at the scene, they found 24-year-old Brinton Harden's body.

Cain would not comment on whether Harden was the driver, but says he was found dead outside the vehicle. Cain would not say how far the body was found from the vehicle, and he declined to answer further questions.

He says no one was inside the car when police arrived.

According to Cain, traffic enforcement and the criminal investigations division are investigating both the car accident and the cause of death.

Cain says they are performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

He could not comment on whether foul play or alcohol was involved, because the

BCHs had a seven-point halftime lead of their region semfinal game versus East Laurens Friday night.  That lead vanished as the Falcons went ahead via a 13-0 run.  Quan Fleming had the Royals only four points as the teams were tied at 30 to begin the fourth.  EL built a five-point lead.  Mario...more Beck's three-point play with 2:02 left made it 41-40 Bleckley.  Dytrez Nelson's three-point play with 1:27 remaining made it 46-42.  A Falcons jumper with under a minute made it 46-45. 
Four straight Bleckley misses at the foul line gave EL life with five seconds remaining.  A last-second three was short as BCHS hung on for the win.  Beck scored five of his 11 points in the final two minutes.  Marcus Mack had 10 points and five assists.  It will be the first region title game for the Royals since 2007 when they take on Laney Saturday at 8:30 pm.

Central Georgia rolled out the proverbial red carpet for one of its own at the first night of the Macon Film Festival.

Joseph Uliano has made a name for himself in the music industry in Los Angeles.

He has produced music videos for major artists, worked on a few network...more television projects, and even took home a Grammy.

But before he earned hardware for his work, Uliano was a kid from Dublin, Georgia, with a love for music.

He talked to 13WMAZ Thursday about what's been most special about his career.

"It's the people that I've worked with," he said. "Some of the people that I've listened to.  Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Bono, the Foo Fighters.  People I really respect, and being able to work with them."

Uliano will be showcasing some of his work through-out the festival.
